Winter 2010 Fall 2010 Summer 2010 Spring 20102009
Winter 2009Well folks winter is right around the corner and it's predicted to be a doozy. Now while you still can, get outside and check the caulk around your windows and doors. Save money and add comfort by replacing it if it's missing or cracked. Hey, there are other ways besides a new furnace to save energy and keep comfortable. ( But I don't know if caulk qualifies for the tax credit.) Mulch those perennials you loved so much this summer so you can enjoy them again next year. Wash the windows one last time. Remember how crazy you thought your neighbor was hanging holiday lights in shirtsleeves. Maybe he's on to something. Pull out those chili recipes and get ready for the game. Or see below for my favorite. Gosh, I'm almost making winter sound like fun.
Don't forget the most important thing you can do for the safety and comfort of your family is to have your furnace cleaned and checked for the heating season. Avoid a costly and untimely breakdown by eliminating the single biggest reason for emergency service calls, dirty, poorly maintained equipment. We're only a phone call away at 630 879-1544. And if you're in our Planned Maintenance Club, we'll call you!

| 1/2 Cup chopped cilantro (optional) | 1 Large, red onion chopped |
| 4 cloves garlic, minced | 1 bottle (12oz) beer |
|
Directions: 1) Heat oil in large skillet or Dutch oven. Add onion; cook over high heat, stirring until lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Add turkey and garlic. Cook over high heat, stirring often and breaking up turkey with a spoon until almost cooked through, about 3 minutes. 2) Add oregano, salt and pepper. Cook 1 minute. Add tomatoes, chipotle chilies and beer. Stir and cover. Turn heat to medium low; cook, stirring occasionally, 15 minutes. Add beans with the liquid and bell peppers. Cook uncovered, 10 minutes. Taste for seasoning. Stir in cilantro if using; serve in large bowls. |

DID YOU KNOW?
If you seal an envelope and realize you forgot to enclose something, just place it in the freezer for an hour or so. Voila! It unseals easily.
To expand cake frosting, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double the amount of frosting and reduce the calories per serving.
To get something out of a heat register or under the refrigerator, add an empty paper towel or gift wrap roll to the end of your vacuum hose. It can be bent or flattened to fit narrow openings.
Before saying good-bye,
We ask you to take a moment to be truly grateful on this Thanksgiving Day. In spite of all the troubles this country is going through right now, we still have much for which to be thankful. And from all of us at GFI to all of you, a joyous holiday season no matter which one you celebrate.
