I know the calendar has already recorded “the first day of spring” but if you’re anything like me you’ll wait for the lilacs and daffodils to bloom before believing it.  One thing you don’t want to wait for is the GFI pre-season air conditioner sale.  Do you remember the story about the early bird?  You can get that same fat worm (well maybe something more appealing like BIG SAVINGS) just by catching our Early Spring Special, $200.00 off on select models of air conditioners. HELPFUL HINTS

Use a lightly dampened microfiber cloth to clean the leaves on live or artificial plants.  They will shine! You’ll be adding moisture to live plants too.

Keep microfiber cloths in your car.  Use them to dust dashboard, radio and steering wheel.

For a bug free room put a couple of drops of lavender or peppermint essential oil on a cool light bulb to help repel bugs. Or drop oil on cotton balls, put them in a small jar or margarine container with holes in it and place them around the room.

For a pest free picnic table, add 5 drops of lavender essential oil to 32 ounces of water in a spray bottle.  Spray and wipe down the table and chairs.

For stinky shoes, lay a piece of plastic wrap in the shoes and put a drop of clove oil on a cotton ball.  Place the cotton ball on the plastic wrap to remove the odor.  Don’t forget to remove the cotton balls and plastic wrap before wearing!

And since we’re Heating & Cooling experts, we want to tell you this.

To make your air conditioner start up trouble free, remove all debris from around the outside unit.

Change the filter in your system.  Even air conditioners won’t operate efficiently with a dirty filter.  Dirty filters are also a common cause of premature equipment failure.

But most importantly, get outside!  Enjoy the warmer weather. Go for a walk. Forget about the Chicago winter we just had.
