Winter 2010 Fall 2010 Summer 2010 Spring 20102009
Winter 2009I can hardly believe we've just blown by our second holiday weekend. Since for many of us that means cook-outs and picnics I thought we should share some grilling tips we read recently. Maybe you missed the Fourth of July with this but hey, who couldn't stand to be a little better at the grill any time of year?
Seems one of the secrets to great grilling is to pre-heat the grill to 500 degrees with the lid closed, about 15 minutes for most grills. Doing that allows the grate to get hot enough to clean so the food sears perfectly.
Prepare all the food for the grill in advance. That way you don't have to run back and forth for things as you're cooking.
If you're grilling steaks, let them stand at room temperature for 15 minutes to take the chill off. Very cold steaks take longer to cook and increase the chance of burning or drying out. One of my favorite, simple ways to get a tasty steak is to pat it with a little butter and then some fresh ground black pepper. The outside sears nicely and the inside is tender and juicy!
But maybe the most important thing about grilling is to do it safely! No kids near the grill, no charcoal lighter after the fire is started. And then the last piece of advice....make sure you have enough propane or charcoal! Running to the store in the middle of cooking is sure to spoil the day. Trust me, I've done it. You might want to invest in a propane tank gas gauge and save that trauma.
Speaking of hot, you aren't seriously thinking of putting off air conditioning again this year are you? Now is the time to take action and here is why!
*Tax Credits of up to $500.00 * *Free 2 year maintenance (Up to a $180.00 value)* *Free High Efficiency Media Air Filter* With financing available for as little as $68.00 per month (wac) why would you wait?
One last note, if you were one of the unfortunates, like we were, to lose power in the last big storm, call us to learn more about automatic stand-by generators. You'll thank us next time the power goes off and your food stays cold and your furnace or air conditioner still runs. 630 879-1544
