Winter 2009WOOSH, THERE IT GOES.
Is it possible that summer is over? The kids are back in school (is that a bad thing?) the days are getting shorter, and believe it or not it's time to schedule your seasonal furnace clean and check. Now, we're hoping you don't need to use it for a while, but why wait? Don't get a nasty surprise learning your furnace doesn't work when you turn it on and oops, no heat. Take advantage of our pre-season special and rest easy knowing that when you call for heat, it answers.
Q. When is the best time to buy a new furnace or air conditioner? A. When somebody helps you pay for it. This is the last season to take advantage of the Federal Energy Tax Credits on high efficiency equipment. Why would you wait and pay more next year?
Fall is a good time to check your humidifier. We'll do it while we're there. Make sure you have comfortable heat and humidity all winter.
When you change your clocks from Daylight Savings Time, change the batteries in your smoke alarms too. Keep safe!

Prevent stiff brushes after painting. Rinse them in a container of water and a couple of drops of liquid fabric softener. Wipe the bristles dry and store as usual.
Difficult to remove baked on food in a casserole dish? Fill it with very hot water and add some dry dishwasher detergent. Let it soak for 15-20 minutes and voila, it's clean!
WHAT ELSE CAN I DO WITH A COFFEE FILTER?
Line flower pots to prevent soil from leaking out of the drainage hole.

Wrap Christmas ornaments and other fragile items before packing.
Clean windows and mirrors.
Wipe smudges from eyeglasses, camera lenses, computer screens and televisions.
